How to connect Tableau to Salesforce CDP for deeper customer insights

The key to creating a customer-centric organization is building a deeper understanding of your customers with the help of data. The ability to pull together data generated by every customer interaction will help you better anticipate customer needs and deliver integrated experiences.

Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of the Tableau native connector to Salesforce CDP, an enterprise customer data platform built on the world’s leading CRM.

Salesforce CDP runs the breadth of Salesforce technology—a single, integrated data platform that brings together your company data and customers—to unite your marketing, sales, commerce, service, and engagement data in a shared, easy-to-understand platform. With this single view of your data, business teams and analysts can create connected, personalized customer experiences and extract critical insights that provide a better sense of the whole business and customer satisfaction.

With Salesforce CDP, you can discover insights from all your customer engagement, behavioral, and transactional data. The customer data platform unifies all of your customer data across marketing, service, commerce, sales, web, and mobile—allowing you to create segments and behavioral insight scores called calculated insights. All of this data is available to explore in Tableau.

Drill deeper into your customer data with Tableau

Business users and analysts can connect Tableau to Salesforce CDP to quickly get answers to business questions. Cross-drill down to and from the campaign, channel, content, offer, product, and customer dimensions to understand the “who” and “why” behind all your cross-channel engagement performances.

Salesforce CDP is built on Hyperforce. This architecture provides tremendous scale for leveraging both data currently in the Salesforce ecosystem, as well as data outside of Salesforce. Providing organizations with clicks-not-code solutions unlocks the power of Tableau to meet ongoing customer demands with data.

The native connector to Tableau enables marketers, business users, analysts, and their data science and engineering counterparts to greatly increase the reach of customer data. Allowing stakeholders across the enterprise to come together and share a common understanding of the same data helps to break down silos and ensure that everyone across the organization is more empowered to meet the demands of their jobs.

How to embed your viz back into Salesforce CDP

Once your dashboards are ready for primetime, put your Tableau viz back into Salesforce CDP. Using the lightning web component, you can embed insights back into your CDP org. All it takes is three clicks, using the URL of the visualization that you want to embed from Tableau Server or Tableau Public. If desired, customize further to improve the look and feel by adjusting the height or showing the Tableau toolbar.
