Data helps communities—and comedians—make sense of the AHCA

Tableau 10.2 includes a host of new features that help organizations empower people and maximize the impact of their data.

In the wake of the latest wave of updates from Google BigQuery, we are excited to share the latest version of the Tableau-Google BigQuery Best Practices whitepaper.

Tableau was named a leader for the fifth straight year in the 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for BI and Analytics. But we couldn’t do it without you, the amazing leaders in our community. So we asked you to share the data leaders who inspire you, day in and day out. And we were blown away by your responses!

This is, without question, the most controversial chart type that I present. I almost saved it for last, lest you be offended by the subject matter and decide not to check out the rest of the posts in the series. But I actually get made fun of internally for how much I like this chart, so I’ve worked up a bit of bravery when broaching the subject of this one.

With Tableau 10.2, you can create, publish, and embed accessible vizzes. We’ve also included support for screen readers, braille keyboards, and keyboard-only navigation.

When we see great stories of customers leveraging powerful tools and best practices to drive adoption of analytics at scale, it’s something we like to highlight to our community and help share those learnings. GoDaddy is doing just that with Tableau and our data cataloguing partner, Alation.

We are excited to announce Tableau Online is now running on Amazon Web Services in the US-East (Virginia) region. Tableau Online is our fastest-growing product with more than 5,000 customer accounts in more than 100 countries. This latest expansion will enable us to scale faster and support our customers in more parts of the world. Our first available data center was on the West Coast, followed in January by the European data center in Dublin.

How do you explore data? What path do you take from opening a data set to publishing a dashboard? Do you go in a straight line or a squiggly path? This week Tableau’s research team is joining Makeover Monday to help answer those questions.

We believe people should not be forced down a straight line, but be able to explore the data, chasing hunches, in order to focus on the best articulation of the data. Knowing more about people’s behaviour helps us improve Tableau. We want you to help us by getting involved in a special experiment next week. The research team are joining with Makeover Monday for a special “advanced logging” week. Collecting multiple log files from people all exploring the data set will give us a unique perspective on people’s paths through the data.
