Retail giant Shoprite has boosted its Business Intelligence capability by signing a deal with SlipstreamBI to provide Tableau data visualisation and enterprise reporting Software. Shoprite is using Tableau, which enables companies to visually discover patterns and trends in their data, to develop dashboards for key areas across the entire business including both internal and external stakeholders.
“Tableau will give us a competitive edge” said Irene Fourie, Shoprite Business Intelligence Team Manager. Shoprite selected Tableau for the quality of its dashboards and data visualisations, and because it is quick to implement, easy to use and connects directly to Shoprite’s data sources, Fourie said. The roll out of interactive dashboards has started to 4 different parts of the business. Future plans include expanding further into the supply chain including suppliers and buyers and executive dashboarding.
Shoprite joins the list of South African companies using Tableau Software, which is one of the fastest growing Business Intelligence companies in the world and has achieved significant local growth over the past 2 years.
“We are delighted that Shoprite inked the deal after running a competitive Request For Proposal (RFP) process, and SlipstreamBI was selected to supply the Tableau software ahead of all other major vendors,” said Andrew Milner, chief technologist at SlipstreamBI – the young and innovative Business Intelligence company which is a Silver Partner for Tableau Software in South Africa.
“Shoprite is a great example of how retailers and companies in nearly every industry can harness Big Data to help them make better business decisions,” said Elissa Fink, Chief Marketing Officer at Tableau Software. “Tableau brings data to life – making it easier for anyone to see, understand and act on emerging trends.”
