Sam is a data skills expert with a passion for helping others improve their lives through the use and understanding of data. With a degree in graphic design, and a career that spans a variety of industries he has an intimate understanding of, and empathy for the situations that most professionals find themselves in. He uses that knowledge along with his 10.5 years of experience at Tableau to inform and guide his current work to make data skills available and accessible to as many people as possible. When he's not at work you can find him running dogs, hiking with his family, climbing, biking, or working on a project. He loves the outdoors and anything that makes it easier to get outside.

Christina Gorga

Tableau Social Ambassador and DataFam Con Co-founder

Christina Gorga is a data designer and strategist based in Northern Virginia. She found her way into a data analytics career via graduate training in cognitive science. Christina advocates for individuals switching careers into data, especially working mothers through the #MomsWhoViz community. She is the 2018 Michael Cristiani Community Founders Award winner and is continuously involved in mentorship and education pillars through Booz Allen's Women in Data Science group. She has spoken at DC TUG 2x, Tableau Fringe Festival, Data Viz DC, and Data + Women Germany. In February 2022 she co-launched the new #DataFamCon community challenge with Nicole Klassen. In the upcoming months, she is relaunching the Data + Women DC chapter with a renewed focus on empowerment and support for women making career transitions to data analytics. At the core of her beliefs is that diversity in backgrounds and education enhances the data visualization field. In her spare time, she enjoys science fiction, collecting mid-century furniture, and spinning vinyl.
