Dan Cory is Principal Technical Advisor to the Tableau CTO. He works on improving Tableau products and inventing new ideas for the future. Before joining Tableau in 2010, he worked on a variety of data visualization products including esri’s ArcView, Microsoft MapPoint, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, and Microsoft Excel. You will always find him near a map.

Learn about how the Research team applied two techniques to approach the complex problem of parsing dates and their various formats. One technique focused on pattern recognition while the other focused on natural language grammar rules.
