Over the last decade, the lifecycle emissions associated with these publicly-owned fossil fuel resources amounted to approximately 20% of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.
To help illustrate to the public the hidden impacts of coal, oil, and gas production on federal lands, The Wilderness Society used Tableau to build the Federal Lands Emissions Accountability Tool (FLEAT). Read how The Wilderness Society is using data to track emissions extracted on public lands and visualizations to advocate for change at the federal, state, and community level.Read More
After releasing the FLEAT visualizations, we received a request from a Member of Congress’s Legislative Director to meet and learn more about the data--we’re hoping it’s the first of many in building support for policy change around managing the emissions from public lands!
