On August 1st, the Tableau development team updated the certificates for our Windows based product installers. This change may cause issues with installing specific versions of Tableau Products. Driver download

Find the driver for your database so you can connect Tableau to your data.

To get the right driver, you might need to know your Tableau product version. In Tableau Desktop, select Help > About Tableau. In Tableau Server, click the information icon Information icon and select About Tableau Server.

For Tableau Bridge, use the same drivers as Tableau Desktop.

Important: After Tableau 10.5, we are changing the way we number new versions of our software. The version following 10.5 is 2018.1. The next version will be 2018.2, and so on. For more information, see the blog post Changing our version numbering for new software releases .

Actian Matrix

Follow these steps to install the Windows driver for Actian Matrix:

  1. Go to the Actian website and sign in.

  1. Close Tableau Desktop.
  2. Install the iODBC Driver Manager, if it's not already installed on your Mac. You can get the latest version (mxkozzz.dmg) from the iODBC.orgwebsite ordownload the filedirectly.

    Note: You must install iODBC before you install the MySQL ODBC connector.

  3. Download and install the MySQL ODBC connector for your macOS from theMySQL Community Downloadswebsite.

  4. Open Tableau Desktop and connect to Alibaba AnalyticDB for MySQL.

      Note: There have been some cases where using the Ubuntu MySQL 8.0 driver causes problems or doesn't connect. You can try using MySQL driver version 5.3.13, available from the archives on the My SQL website.

  3. After you install the driver, add entries similar to these to the /etc/odbcinst.ini file, if they're not already there:
    [MySQL ODBC 8.0 Unicode Driver] Driver=/usr/lib64/libmyodbc5w.so UsageCount=1
    [MySQL ODBC 8.0 ANSI Driver] Driver=/usr/lib64/libmyodbc5a.so UsageCount=1

To install on Linux, follow these instructions to download the driver, put it in the correct location, and set the appropriate permissions.

Note: The Alibaba MaxCompute driver is a JDBC driver, so it doesn't require an odbc.ini file.

  1. Download the latest JDBC driver (odps-jdbc-[version]-jar-with-dependencies.jar file) from the Aliyun GitHub site.
  2. After you download the .jar file, copy it to this location on the Linux computer:

    /opt/tableau/tableau_driver/jdbc

If the directory doesn't exist, create it and make sure it's readable by the "tableau" user. To do this:

  1. Create the directory:

    sudo mkdir -p /opt/tableau/tableau_driver/jdbc

  2. Copy the downloaded driver file to the location, replacing[/path/to/file]with the path and[driver file name]with the name of the driver you downloaded:

    sudo cp [/path/to/file/][driver file name].jar /opt/tableau/tableau_driver/jdbc

  3. Set permissions so the file is readable by the "tableau" user, replacing[driver file name]with the name of the driver you downloaded:

    sudo chmod 755 /opt/tableau/tableau_driver/jdbc/[driver file name].jar

Follow these steps to install the Windows driver for Oracle Essbase:

  1. If the Essbase driver is already on the Tableau Server computer, remove it using Add or Remove Programs.
    (Search for "essbase" and uninstall anything like "Tableau2020. ... Essbase Driver".)

  3. In a command window, run the following command as an administrator:

  2. Install the driver dependencies listed in the driver README file on the Teradata website.
  3. Install the driver with the following command, replacing [driver file name] with the name of the .rpm file:

    sudo yum install tdodbc1610-16.10.00.03-1.noarch.rpm

  4. After you install the driver, append the following entry to the /etc/odbcinst.ini file, if it’s not already there. Replace [driver version] with the verion of the driver and [file name] with the name of the shared library file used by the driver version you install.
    [Teradata] Description=Teradata ODBC Driver(64-bit) Driver=/opt/teradata/client/[driver version]/lib64/[file name].so

    For example, if you install Teradata ODBC driver version 16.20, you would add this entry:
