We just released Tableau 9.3, and we’re pretty excited about the new Union feature. Union helps you combine data that’s been split into multiple files. If you work with data spread across multiple tabs or files, think of the time you’ll save on prepping your data. Once you’ve enjoyed that picture, take a moment to consider the data sources themselves. Before Union, many data sources were doomed to stay apart even though they truly belonged together. We wonder how many Romeo and Juliets there have ever been in the data world—millions, we’re betting! So we put together a handy tool to help you find the perfect match for your data source. Unencumbered by the data-prep issues of old, your data sources can now be together forever.

Living in Seattle for the past two years, I have been a part of countless conversations about how rainy it is here. I often hear people make comparisons to New York, claiming that “while it feels like it rains a lot here, it actually rains more in New York.” Then why the heck does it seem so rainy here all year long? Plus New Yorkers surely do not complain about the rain as much as Seattleites do! To get to the bottom of the issue, I turned to the data.

MyALPO provides a personalized homepage for every user so people can quickly and easily find what they need. With more and more people authoring workbooks and data sources to Tableau Server, this scalable solution has proven immensely valuable to our users. We don’t plan to productionalize MyALPO, but we’d like to share what we learned along the way.
