This week, we launched a new pharmaceutical solutions page to show off some of Tableau's use cases for pharmaceutical analytics, pharmaceutical sales and physician marketing.

At the end of each month, I will pull together a collection of links to the most relevant, innovative and interesting Tableau-related content I come across, inspired by Andy Kirk's monthly visualisation round ups.

Last week, I blogged about the Big Data announcements we made in conjunction with the Strata-Hadoopworld conference. There was one additional highlight that didn't make my blog post because the technology had not been announced yet at the conference. It is actually a very significant announcement for customers using Tableau on top of Cloudera's hadoop distribution (CDH). At the conference, Cloudera announced a new hadoop technology called Impala, which is a real-time query processing engine for hadoop. Tableau was chosen as one of its first partners to integrate with Cloudera Impala and we previewed an early version of the Impala connector at the conference.

As I have been preparing the Filters, Filters and More Filters session (part of the Jedi Track) at #TCC12 I came across a neat and very useful trick using filters with table calculations. I will be using our Sample Superstore data to show you this trick.

As a marketing professional, I have a soft spot for customer stories that showcase Tableau at work in marketing departments. So it’s gratifying when I hear about customers combining their data muscle and Tableau chops to segment audiences, engage prospects, and provide meaningful content about their product or service.

When Tableau is combined with Apache Hadoop from Cloudera you can get rapid analytics on top of massive amounts of semi-structured, unstructured and nested data.

Today we are releasing a new version of our data reshaper add-in for Excel 2007-2010 (32- and 64-bit). For those who are not familiar with this tool, it’s a free add-in that helps you prepare your Excel files for analysis.

After some engaging conversations with our (very passionate!) customers on the Roadshow, I want to address a topic that frequently came up.

The majority of our Tableau for Teaching instructors work with university students. However, on occasion, we see innovative examples of data analysis skills being introduced early on, to high school students. This summer, Professor William McHenry led an information technology career camp using Tableau, for 26 high school students.
