What an honour! #MakeoverMonday has been shortlisted for “Best DataViz Project” in the Kantar Information Is Beautiful Awards.

This month, I received the news that I had finally reached a career-long goal of being named a Tableau Zen Master, Tableau’s highest honor. As I felt the outpouring of support from the community, I put a lot of thought into the most appropriate response. I quickly realized that simply responding to tweets or LinkedIn messages would not do it justice, so I’m documenting some thoughts here to share with the community.

Last week, I learned that I was selected as a Tableau Zen Master. I am extremely excited and humbled to join such an exceptional group of Tableau talent. As I reflect on my journey, I wanted to share a few tips that helped me and will hopefully inspire others.

We are delighted to announce our new 2016-2017 Tableau Zen Masters. This year, we have selected 27 people who represent the three pillars of our program.

The release of Tableau 10 was the most community-driven release in Tableau history. From the Tableau 10 Virtual User Group to the Tableau Torch Relay, to Tableau 10 Live, you, our amazing community, have been with us every step of the way. When Tableau 10 launched, we asked you to share the stories of your own Tableau journey. Here are some of your stories and #Tableau10 moments as curated by Tableau Social Media Ambassadors.

The Tableau Torch Relay has come to a close, and man, what a journey it was! From Seattle to New York and across the Atlantic, the torch made 10 stops in all, and ended its journey with a wrap party in London. And three of the torchbearers were there to celebrate with the London Tableau community.

There's something special about the number ten. Sure, it's only got one more digit than nine, but that digit makes a world of difference. Tableau 10 is big! It's an exciting milestone for us, and we couldn't have gotten there without you, our incredible community.

Judah Bausili has always enjoyed catching Pokémon, but he hasn’t always been discerning about the types he caught. And that’s where Ben, his data-minded dad who happens to work for Tableau Gold Partner InterWorks, saw an opportunity.

Every six months, the Tableau Ambassador program looks to find more enthusiastic, community oriented people to induct as new ambassadors. And this July was no different. We have nine new Tableau Ambassadors, three within each branch: the community forums, social media, and user groups.

Do you know someone who is a true Tableau evangelist? Does this person use his or her skills to teach others and bring our mission to help people see and understand their data to as many people as possible? If so, that person just might have what it takes to be a Tableau Zen Master. From today until August 11, we are seeking your nominations for the 2016-2017 Zen Masters.
