Anindita Mitra, Business Intelligence Specialist at SIU School of Medicine

Illinois, USA

Anindita Mitra is a Business Intelligence Specialist at SIU School of Medicine. She views Tableau as more than just a professional tool; for her, it is a dynamic creative outlet for design, experimentation, and storytelling. First discovering the platform during a graduate school course, she was captivated by the possibilities showcased on Tableau Public and honed her skills by reverse-engineering community workbooks and participating in challenges like Makeover Monday. Today, Anindita channels her natural curiosity into compelling data stories, drawing inspiration from everyday life, research, and literature. Her favorite visualization, "Why Medical Data Fails Women"—inspired by the book Invisible Women—beautifully highlights her dedication to transforming complex, scattered research into accessible narratives that expose crucial gender data gaps in healthcare.

Deeply grateful for the generous community that helped shape her own skills, Anindita is passionate about giving back and helping others grow. She actively shares her insights on LinkedIn and Tableau Public, and recently stepped into the spotlight to deliver her first Tableau User Group presentation at Tableau Buddy Talks, where she discussed incorporating AI into analytics workflows. Looking ahead, Anindita is eager to expand her skill set by experimenting with map visualizations and reconnecting with community initiatives like Makeover Monday. With plans to volunteer with DataChangeMakers and speak at future Tableau User Groups, she continues to pay her knowledge forward, ensuring that today's beginners receive the same support and inspiration that fueled her own journey.
