Got the winter blues? We’ve got a cure in the form of Tableau 10.2 beta!

Tableau 10.2 comes with a host of new features for data rockstars and IT champions alike. Our new features for data prep and analysis are designed to help you do more with your data. And our accessibility features and added web-authoring power will help enterprises scale. Here's a sneak peek at some of the hottest features.

Spatial files

Leverage your spatial files directly in Tableau. Tableau now connects to ESRI shapefiles, KML, GeoJSON, and MapInfo file types. Now it’s even easier to perform custom geospatial analysis.

Legends per measure

Shown for the first time at Tableau Conference last month, and now it's coming in Tableau 10.2. Create unique legends per individual measure so you easily spot trends when displaying multiple measures in a viz.

Database union

Get to your analysis faster with the ability to union tables from a MSSsql, MySql, Oracle, Postgres, Redshift, or HP Vertica database within Tableau Desktop.

Automatic date detection

Tableau 10.2 automatically detects date formats in your data so you don’t have to manually parse it into a standard format. Time saved!

Connectors galore

We’re adding a host of new connectors to help you analyze all of your data. In Tableau 10.2, you can connect directly to Anaplan, SharePoint, and Apache Drill.

Accessibility

You can now author, publish, and interact with vizzes that are WCAG 2.0 AA and Section 508 compliant. Common viz elements now have keyboard support and function with web-based assistive technologies.

Web authoring improvements

Web authoring keeps getting better and better, giving you more control to author or edit a viz right from the browser. In Tableau 10.2, you can assign specific colors to data items, drag to remove reference lines, and sort via the toolbar.

And one more thing...

Autosave for Tableau Desktop is here. Start where you left off, even if your computer crashes.

Stay up to date

Visit the Coming Soon page to see the all Tableau 10.2 features we have planned for you. We’ll update the site throughout the beta period with more info and deep dive videos.

We are working hard to get Tableau 10.2 out the door, but first we need your input! We want your feedback as early as possible to catch any issues and ensure the new features are great. Check out our beta program to learn more and sign up. The features included in beta and in the final version of Tableau 10.2 may change over time as we get feedback from beta users.

Not all functionality described above are available today. Some features will be added in the coming weeks. The beta program is available for existing Tableau customers. Customers with an active maintenance license can upgrade for free when Tableau 10.2 is released.
