Data Geeks Unite in First-Ever Tableau Virtual User Group

Thousands of Tableau enthusiasts joined us to celebrate the launch of Tableau 9.0 during our first-ever Virtual Tableau User Group event this week. The live feed from our Seattle headquarters reached Tableau User Group members across the world, many of them gathered at 25 local TUG viewing parties across the U.S. and Canada.

Lights, cameras, and more than 7,000 Tableau enthusiasts made for a memorable first-ever 9.0 Virtual Tableau User Group event this week.

The live feed from our Seattle headquarters reached Tableau User Group members across the world, many of them gathered at 25 local TUG viewing parties across the U.S. and Canada.

A lively preshow of interviews and giveaways kicked things off, followed by the keynote speech and the much-anticipated demonstration of Tableau 9.0. Throughout the event, TUG members chimed in on Twitter to toast, mingle, and ask how they can better leverage data.

We all share this human impulse to seek meaningful answers, as our CMO Elissa Fink noted during the keynote speech.

“You want to have a sense of achievement because you’ve done something meaningful with data,” she said. “Having an impact, making a difference, I think, motivates us all.” (Watch her full speech below.)

And finding those key insights is now even easier with Tableau 9.0, which incorporates analytics in the flow for smooth-sailing data analysis. New features include auto data prep, smart maps, and Level of Detail Expressions. See how they work in this demonstration by Ellie Fields, our fearless VP of Product Marketing (the demo starts around the 50:30 mark):

A huge thank you to our Tableau User Group leaders who helped hold simultaneous meetings across the world. If you haven’t already checked to see if there's a TUG near you, be sure to visit our map and connect with other Tableau enthusiasts. Don’t have a local TUG where you live? Consider starting one yourself.
