As we shared during the keynote at TC16, every part of our product roadmap is designed to empower you and your entire organization to make better decisions faster with data. Here is a small sample of what we have planned for the next three years.

Over 150 attendees gathered to participate in a live Makeover Monday session at TC16. Tableau Zen Master Andy Kriebel and Tableau’s own Andy Cotgreave led the group in visualizing a data set on Austin restaurant inspection.

Hot on the heels of Tableau 10.1, we’d like to introduce a new open-source project called the Mobile App Bootstrap (MAB). The MAB is a sample open-source mobile app that demonstrates how to connect and stay signed in to Tableau Servers, embed Tableau content, and utilize the Tableau JavaScript API to embed the Tableau content you want to have right at your fingertips.

We’re happy to announce the beta release of TabPy, a new API that enables evaluation of Python code from within a Tableau workbook. When you use TabPy with Tableau, you can define calculated fields in Python, thereby leveraging the power of a large number of machine-learning libraries right from your visualizations.

We are happy to announce the release of Logshark, an open-source, self-service tool to help you analyze Tableau log files using a product you already love, Tableau!

With Tableau 10, we added dozens of new capabilities to your analytics toolbox to help you do more with your data. And now, we have even more for you with Tableau 10.1! With a new connector, more mapping data, and powerful APIs, there’s something for everyone, from data geeks to developers. Here are some of the biggest features.

Pace charts are an alternative bullet graph design that normalize progress to goal visualizations across KPIs, even if the KPIs have different data formats, scales, and/or seasonal trends. They are useful for providing an apples-to-apples, pace-to-goal comparison in businesses that have KPIs that span different categories such as revenue, social media followers, attendance, etc.

We are excited to share we’ve added a direct connection to Anaplan from Tableau.

Recently I fell in love with the small-multiples types of graphs that show each individual state level metrics separated into a grid-style layout. Being the data hacker that I am, I decided to use my rusty JavaScript skills to auto-generate 50 individual state-level maps from one Tableau viz.
