Neal Myrick and Dr. Sasha Rabkin, Chief Strategy Officer at Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS), discuss EOS's mission to close the equity gap in education. You’ll hear how EOS has created a new framework for measuring student success to ensure all students have equitable access to academically rigorous high school programs and succeed at the highest level. It’s not just the data, it’s how you use it to lead through change that matters.

Advancement Analytics, UC Berkeley

Hear how UC Berkeley implemented a data-driven approach to their advancement strategy. You’ll learn how they created dashboards to track fundraising metrics that increase focus on goals, transparency, and tighter collaboration between teams. Tam Voung and Karl Otto will also share how they pivoted from their initial plans after COVID-19 hit and adjusted advancement goals with data.

What Matters Most: How Data Is Supporting Student Health and Well-being, University of Alabama

This session will cover the critical work at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa is doing to improve the mental health and well-being of their students. Chapman Greer and Timothy Salazar will discuss how they created a wellness model to track several metrics for a holistic picture of student wellbeing. Attendees will also hear how they developed a framework once COVID-19 hit to track and respond to student concerns and connect them with the right support and resources needed.

Attendees will hear how Montclair State University built dashboards that compiled large amounts of student data into one view that allowed for more flexibility and collaboration between departments, especially during the pandemic.

Dr. Sasha Rabkin

Chief Strategy Officer, Equal Opportunity Schools

Sasha brings a strong background in diverse education settings including program management in a cross-section of schools and districts.

For over eleven years, Sasha served as Director of School and Family Programs at the Institute for Community Leadership where he managed community-based social justice leadership interventions with schools and families. Prior to this, Sasha spent three years at the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instructions where he managed statewide youth leadership and service-learning programs.

Sasha has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Redlands, where he also served as student body president. He recently completed his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Change from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, CA.

Dr. Claire Norris

Associate Vice President for Inclusion, Diversity, and Effectiveness at the University of Louisiana System (UL System)

Dr. Claire Norris serves as the Associate Vice President for Inclusion, Diversity, and Effectiveness at the University of Louisiana System (UL System). Dr. Norris holds over ten years of professional experience committed to creating and maintaining equitable teaching and learning environments for faculty, staff, and students. Dr. Norris provides leadership in the areas of institutional research, effectiveness, and accountability across the UL System. Her research and policy background help inform strategies that serve all students. Before joining the UL System, Dr. Norris worked at the Louisiana Board of Regents (BoR). During her tenure at BoR, she served as the Senior Policy Analyst in the Planning Research and Performance Division; she later joined the BoR Academic Affairs Division as an Assistant Commissioner for Academic Affairs. In both of these roles, Dr. Norris was responsible for conducting research and developing and monitoring policy associated with academic affairs. At her core, Dr. Norris is a passionate sociologist; she spent five years as a faculty member in the Sociology Department at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA. She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed journals in the areas of race, health, and social support.

Eric Mayberry

Director, Data & Analytics Team, The Ohio State University

Eric is currently serving as the Director for  Data & Analytics at The Ohio State University. Eric was hired into Ohio State in 2017 to lead the Enterprise Tableau implementation and to serve as the Tableau administrator for the university.

In two short years, Eric has transformed a siloed Tableau presence at OSU into an enterprise consolidated solution. OSU now has over 6,000 Tableau worksheets, 4,200 users and 250+ Tableau developers. Eric also founded a higher education Tableau Slack channel to connect Tableau administrators and professionals in the higher education space from around the world. The Slack channel has over 1,200 participants from 200+ universities across 12 time zones. Eric’s most recent accomplishment is Ohio State’s public COVID-19 dashboard which has over 1.5 million views!

Eric previously worked at Nationwide insurance for 18 years before joining Ohio State. At Nationwide, Eric began his career as an IT developer and eventually progressed into the data world as a leader for the data and analytics team within marketing.

Eric is a graduate from Ohio University.

Dr. Timothy Salazar

Director of Analytics and Policy in the Division of Student Affairs at The University of Alabama

Dr. Timothy Salazar is the Director of Analytics and Policy in the Division of Student Affairs at The University of Alabama. In his role, he acts as a consultant for all departments throughout the Division of Student Affairs seeking to use data to improve efficiency and effectiveness. His interests lie in big data and how data can improve the student experience with an emphasis on how programs impact underrepresented groups. He has 15 years of experience in analyzing programs and policy to seek improvement in key performance measures. Prior to coming to The University of Alabama he worked in the Department of Student Life Studies at Texas A&M University and for the Utah State Legislative Auditor General’s Office. He has presented his research and findings at numerous national and regional conferences

Dr. Chapman Greer

Clinical Instructor of Management and the 2018-2021 Faculty Senate Vice President, University of Alabama

Chapman Greer is a clinical instructor of Management and the 2018-2021 Faculty Senate Vice President. Dr. Greer is a co-chair of the General Education Taskforce, charged with leading a campus-wide review of The University of Alabama’s general education experiences and to develop a comprehensive plan for general education that connects the learning goals of the major, the work of Student Life, and a curriculum that further supports the development of curious learners, critical and creative thinkers, and informed and engaged citizens. Dr. Greer received both her MLIS in Library and Information Sciences and her PhD in English from The University of Alabama. Her current research focuses on application-based educational practices in project management, data visualization, and privacy calculus in digital communications. Dr. Greer also serves on the Faculty Senate Academic Affairs Subcommittee, where she served as co-chair for two years.

Tam Vuong

Director, Information Strategy and Analytics, UC Berkeley

Tam Vuong has over 25 years experience in higher education advancement. She began her career in Annual Giving before leveraging her love for systems, process, and data by switching over to Advancement Services. She currently leads the Information Strategy and Analytics team at UC Berkeley, providing information delivery services to the campus' development and alumni relations community.

Abby Kane Pezzulo

Abby Pezzulo has been a Client Manager with CTI Data for over 20 years and helped launch CTI’s Higher Education Practice. Abby engages with her clients to integrate information and drive data-informed decisions across the student lifecycle. CTI Data helps clients achieve successful business outcomes that include improving student engagement & student success rates, optimizing admissions & enrollment, and strengthening alumni engagement to increase donations.

Klavdiya Hammond

Director, Institutional Research and Effectiveness, Montclair State University

Klavdiya Hammond is the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Montclair State University, where she manages a team of research analysts, data analytics developers, and database administrators, who support all aspects of data management and analytics from collection, processing, analysis, interpretation, to presentation and distribution, in order to promote knowledge-based decision making, planning, assessment, and policy development at the University. Klavdiya is a Montclair State graduate.

Erin Moran

Co-founder of The Solas Group

Erin has more than 20 years of experience serving fundraising professionals. She began her career in prospect research and has gone on to oversee areas as diverse as advancement services, operations, donor relations, communications, alumni relations, and annual giving. For eight years, Erin was the campaign director for DePaul University’s largest and most successful fundraising effort, the Many Dreams, One Mission campaign. Having also served as an interim VP for Advancement (a role to which she did not aspire!), Erin has a unique understanding of the pressures faced by campus leaders.
In 2018, Erin and her partners co-founded The Solas Group, a firm dedicated to increasing nonprofit fundraising through analytics and innovative technology.
Erin holds a BA in theatre with honors from Grinnell College and an MA in English with distinction from DePaul University. She is a graduate of Harvard University’s Management Development Program within the Graduate School of Education. Erin has spoken on advancement services and campaign-related topics at many APRA and CASE conferences, and she has repeatedly been a guest lecturer for graduate courses in fundraising, teaching on topics such as prospect identification, campaign planning, and donor motivation.

Natalie Young-Williams

Chief of Staff and Director of Institutional Advancement for Paul Quinn College

Natalie Young Williams, JD, is Chief of Staff and Director of Institutional Advancement for Paul Quinn College. Natalie works to forge strategic alliances to advance the growth goals of the PQC Corporate Work Program and the development initiatives of the College. Natalie has more than a decade of experience optimizing operational excellence and creating effective and sustainable educational solutions. Prior to joining Paul Quinn, Natalie managed EdisonLearning’s strategic alliance with Magic Johnson Enterprises and was the Executive Director of Friends of Magic, a corporate and community engagement initiative for the national network of Magic Johnson Bridgescape Academies. Natalie is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School and Arizona State University with degrees in Philosophy and Journalism. Natalie relocated to Dallas from Phoenix, Arizona with her husband Morris Williams III. Natalie has a son, Saben Lee, who was a point guard on the Vanderbilt University basketball team.
