How UC Irvine Uses Data Segmentation and Community Health Assessments for Better Patient Insights

Charles Podesta has over 30 years of experience in Information Technology for Healthcare, the last eighteen years of which he has spent as a Chief Information Office. Mr. Podesta has worked for Academic Medical Centers, Health Systems and Community Hospitals. He is currently the CIO for University of California Irvine Health. Previous to this engagement Mr. Podesta was SVP & CIO of Fletcher Allen Healthcare, a large academic medical center and health system in Burlington, VT. Other positions included SVP & CIO at Caritas Christi Health Care, now Steward Health in eastern MA, CIO at Berkshire Health Systems, Pittsfield, MA, Director of IS and Interim CIO for Baystate Health Systems in Springfield, MA. And prior to that, leadership positions at St Vincent Hospital, Worcester, MA; UMASS/Memorial, Worcester, MA and MageeWomen’s Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Over the years Mr. Podesta has made numerous presentations at national conferences and is quoted widely in healthcare publications on a variety of IT topics including Epic’s Community Connect Program.

Charles is the Chief Innovation Officer for Clearsense, a healthcare analytics organization specializing in bringing “Big Data” technologies to healthcare. Prior to Clearsense Charles was the Enterprise Analytics Architect for Stony Brook Medicine. In his role he is developed the analytics infrastructure to serve the clinical, operational, quality and research needs of the organization. He was a founding member of the team that developed the Health and Human Services award winning application "NowTrending" to assist in the early detection of disease outbreaks utilizing social media feeds. Charles holds a MS in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology and is the President of the American Nursing Informatics Association.

Andy Dé is the senior global industry director for Healthcare and Life Sciences at Tableau Software. In this role, he leads the innovation, thought leadership, go-to-market, partner ecosystem and commercialization strategy, planning and execution for Tableau’s solutions targeted at healthcare providers, payers, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. He has over 20 years of prior enterprise software innovation strategy, solutions portfolio management, and go-to-market strategy, planning and execution leadership experience at GE Healthcare, SAP Health-Sciences and i2.
