Last Thursday about forty folks from industries, non-profits, academia, health services, home construction, consultants and others gathered for the inaugural Atlanta Tableau User Group (ATUG) meeting. Thanks to a few Tableau customers (John Hoover, Chris Cushman, Dan Murray and Andy Kriebel) who formed the backbone of the meeting, the first North American user group meeting was a big success. (The worldwide first was the UK User Group meeting in July.)
From what we've seen, it was indeed a productive event. The meeting was about 4 hours with a full agenda including a discussion of the group's purpose and expectations, a presentation from Dan Murray focused on new users, a review of tips and tricks from Tableau's own Marc Rueter, and then a lively open discussion.
In fact, Andy Kriebel who uses Tableau in his work as Manager of Forecasting & Planning for Coca Cola Enterprises said "It was a terrific user group meeting, much better than any of us could have expected. There was a lot of great information shared and we’ve already set our meeting schedule for the next several months. I think we’re all looking forward to future meetings and how we can learn from each other.”
The group has decided to meet monthly via web meeting and every third month in person.
