Tableau Software, a global leader in visual analytics software, announces the opening of its new office in Munich, Germany. Located in the heart of Munich, this is Tableau’s fifth European office, second office in Germany and its first research and development center in Europe.

“Tableau is constantly innovating new ways to improve our products and the opening of our Munich office will support our commitment to research and development,” said Henrik Jorgensen, Country Manager Germany, Austria and Switzerland at Tableau. “Munich has become one of Germany’s top cities for technology innovation and the opening of our office here will help us push the boundaries of visual analytics capabilities for our customers.”

The Munich office will employ engineers and developers of the Hyper data engine, a new technology acquired by Tableau earlier this year, and become a major hub of innovation for the company, underscoring its ongoing focus on research and development.

Created by a team of students and professors at the Technical University Munich (TUM), the groundbreaking Hyper technology will provide interactive analysis on data of all sizes while enabling fast data ingestion for near real-time analysis. It is expected to be integrated into Tableau products in 2017.

The new office expands the company’s European footprint, where Tableau has offices in Dublin, Frankfurt, London and Paris. Tableau currently has more than 3,200 employees worldwide and 17 offices in 11 countries, including Australia, China, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States.
