Data helps communities—and comedians—make sense of the AHCA

We’re excited to announce that the Tableau Conference On Tour London is now accepting applications for customer speakers. The deadline to apply is March 6, 2017.

Tableau was named a leader for the fifth straight year in the 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for BI and Analytics. But we couldn’t do it without you, the amazing leaders in our community. So we asked you to share the data leaders who inspire you, day in and day out. And we were blown away by your responses!

The folks who make up the 211 Tableau User Groups around the world know the value of communities working together to help each other. So when we teamed up with the Tableau Foundation on the latest User Group Viz Contest, we put that idea at the heart of the competition.

Have you ever noticed that when you go to different places in the Tableau community, certain people continue to pop up, always answering questions, posting interesting vizzes, or sharing relevant content?

For 5-year-old Jett Black, few things are as cool as the Grossery Gang, a collection of tiny rubber toys with colorful names like Awful Waffle and Sticky Soda. “I collect them! Just because they’re neat,” says Jett, who has more than 100 of these characters and often likes to paint them. There are some 200 characters in all, says Jett’s dad, Ken Black. And early on, Jett took a data-driven approach to building his collection.

What do Tableau fanatics do during the holiday season? Some create holiday calendars in Tableau. Others write Christmas poems about Tableau! This week, Tableau customer Amanda Meetze Baines sent us a lovely Christmas poem titled "Tableau before Christmas."

Who would have thought that a phone call to Andy Kriebel in November 2015 would lead to nearly 500 people creating over 3,000 visualizations in one year? That’s the humbling, amazing, inspiring, surprising, rewarding, astonishing result of Makeover Monday.

Tableau has made it possible to move from a situation in which I couldn't analyse or visualize most of the open data available. Nowadays, I spend a significant part of my spare time visualizing data with Tableau.
