The business impact of embracing a data culture

In the digital era, harnessing data can be the difference between staying ahead or falling behind. The study found a strong data culture and investments that extend beyond technology to people and process were vital components for success in the digital economy. The study drew from a global audience of large enterprises (500+ employees), including organizations from Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, U.K., and the U.S, and looked at 14 different metrics in four areas:

  • Financial: revenue, profitability, capital costs, operational costs
  • Customer: new customer acquisitions, customer satisfaction
  • Employee: employee retention, productivity, retention, compliance
  • Product: time-to-market, innovation, resilience, competitive advantage

Chandana Gopal

Research Director, Business Analytics, IDC

Chandana Gopal is Research Director for IDC Business Analytics Solutions market research and advisory practice. Ms. Gopal's core research coverage includes demand and supply trends in business intelligence advanced and predictive analytics, and enterprise performance management markets. Based on her background in integration and analytics, Ms. Gopal's research includes a particular emphasis on how analytics is being embedded into software applications, how artificial intelligence is being embedded into business analytics software, and how end users requirements are driving technology design.

BACKGROUND

Chandana Gopal has been an analyst IDC for several years. Early on as an analyst she covered CRM applications, but more recently her work has been in integration middleware covering markets such as API management, file sync and share, and B2B integration. Ms. Gopal's research specialty includes doing detailed technical evaluations driven by her prior experience in Deloitte Consulting and Wipro Information Systems, where she focused on software implementations and business strategy development.
