Steven Spano, RVP, Public Sector
Brig. Gen (Ret) Steven J. Spano, US Air Force, is the Regional Vice President for Public Sector at Tableau. He leads the vertical strategy as well as product, services and training sales to the Federal, State and Local Governments and education markets. Prior to joining Tableau, Steve served as the President and Chief Operating Officer for the Center for Internet Security (CIS), an International Nonprofit organization focusing on enhancing cyber security readiness and response for public and private sector entities. Prior to CIS, he served as the General Manager, Defense and National Security for Amazon Web Service's Global Public Sector, where he built and led both businesses.
Steve retired from the USAF in September 2011. He commanded at all levels and served in key joint assignments at the National Security Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as the senior IT and Cyber leader for Multi-National Forces Iraq. Steve was born in Albany, NY. He was commissioned in 1983 through the ROTC program at Norwich University and holds master degrees from John Hopkins University and Troy State University.

DHS HQ has spent the last 7+ years overcoming the challenges posed by a complex and disconnected data environment within its business and mission support functions. This discussion explores the methodology and lessons learned from DHS HQ’s efforts to adopt data management/governance best practices, a data integration mindset, and embrace enterprise-level data analytics.
Rob King, Director of Systems & Information Integration (SI2O)
Robert King is the Director of the Systems and Information Integration Office (SI2O) within the Department of Homeland Security’s Management Directorate (MGMT). Rob is responsible for developing and executing MGMT’s enterprise-level data management, governance, and integration strategies and associated plans for the Department’s mission support functions. His portfolio includes oversight of the full data management lifecycle spanning data governance, integration, visualization, and propagation. Additionally, he leads the DHS senior executive governance board for mission support data management and integration. In this role he reports to the Deputy Chief Information Officer, Deputy Chief Readiness Support Officer, and Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

HRSA’s Integrated Resource Management System, with visualizations powered by Tableau, provides managers, employees, budget and internal controls staff with advanced analytics and self-service tools to reach data-driven decisions, validate internal controls and mitigate risks to its $11B annual budget. This financial data warehouse enables HRSA to improve oversight of internal controls and financial performance using advanced analytics.
Joe Roach, Director, Division of Financial Policy and Controls
During Joe's 20+ year Federal career, he has worked in several capacities within the technology management arena, including serving as the CIO and deputy CIO at the HHS Office of the Inspector General and HRSA, respectively. Other responsibilities during his tenure include IT management positions for enterprise architecture, systems management, and IT capital planning.
Joe currently supports the Chief Financial Officer where he is a champion for new approaches in financial data analysis by utilizing data visualization tools to dissect large data sets and identify anomalies or patterned transactions. Always searching for new ways to better inform or improve internal decision making, Joe provides data visualization support to areas such as financial reporting, internal controls testing efforts, resource management, as well as transparency into a myriad of financial operations transactions.

Beth Sandor, Principal
Beth is a Principal at Community Solutions, where she co-directs the organization's systems change work to help communities end homelessness throughout the US and around the world. In this role, she leads the organization's national Built for Zero campaign, a rigorous follow-on to the 100,000 Homes Campaign designed to help a dedicated group of 70 communities do whatever it takes to end chronic and veteran homelessness. Beth brings more than 20 years of experience working in the field of supportive housing and community development in both the United States and the United Kingdom. From 2010-2014, she led quality improvement for the 100,000 Homes Campaign, for which her work was highlighted in both The New York Times and The Harvard Business Review. Beth holds a B.A. from Boston College
