Tableau Welcomes InfoActive Team
We’re thrilled to welcome Trina Chiasson, Daniel Roberts and Dorian Scheidt from InfoActive to the Tableau development team!
You may have heard Tableau acquired InfoActive, a Montreal-based infographics startup that supports our mission to help people see and understand their data. As a result, InfoActive will wind down its activities in the coming months. Users will have access to their existing visualizations for five years, but editing privileges will end in September. You can see more details here.
We realize the change may prove inconvenient for many InfoActive users, and we’d like to help you find a suitable alternative.
You may already be familiar with Tableau Public, the free version of our visual analytics tool. Tableau Public is fully functional, meaning it’s just as fast and easy to use as our other products. Many journalists and researchers use Tableau Public to ask and answer questions of their data. They also publish embeddable, interactive dashboards that empower end users to discover their own insights. (Here are some examples of our community’s work.)
For those new to Tableau, we’ve scheduled training sessions to help you get up and running. You can also download Tableau Public and watch our how-to videos to start exploring right away. If you're an InfoActive user, and are interested in Tableau Public, we’ve gathered resources for you on this page.
Of course, there are other tools that may better suit your needs. Infogram and Datawrapper offer an easy way to create simple charts. And Plotly describes itself as a collaborative data science tool.
Whatever your needs, we enjoy connecting with fellow data enthusiasts like yourself. Join our conversation on Twitter, , Facebook, and Reddit.
