Doing Good with Data: Visualizing Impact and Risk in FSC Certified Forests

This earth month join Tableau Foundation partner, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to hear how this sustainable forest management organization leverages data to show the tremendous impact of its global efforts, in addition to areas with potential risk.

FSC’s work to improve forest management spans across 1,165 local member companies across 89 countries – to meet such a massive challenge, data has become an invaluable part of that effort. And engaging the community around a data story, especially such a vast and diverse one, is complex.

We’re bringing in FSC leaders, Sharon London and Scot McQueen to share how Tableau has been critical in successfully telling the FSC story – ultimately helping our forests and the global fight against climate change.

Highlights include:

  • Measuring Impact on the outcomes of FSC-certification across the world’s forests
  • Road Map to Change: How FSC generates social, environmental and economic benefits
  • Managing Risk Requirements for Sourcing FSC Controlled Wood

He has travelled extensively and, pre-pandemic, hosted hiking and running groups in the Rio Negro region of Patagonia.

He serves as a Board Member at the Capitol Land Trust and the World Forest ID.
