ExxonMobil: Building a Culture of Safety using Tableau

In order to achieve its corporate vision and support its efforts for continuous improvement, ExxonMobil Corporate SSHE has partnered with IT to develop a data warehouse to enable insightful analysis and self-discovery of SSHE data and trends. ExxonMobil's journey was dotted with complications and setbacks that ultimately made their understanding of data warehousing and Tableau stronger and strengthened the relationship between Business and IT.

ExxonMobil Central SSHE and ExxonMobil IT will share how they:

- partnered together to scale Tableau Server and build a global Safety Security Health Environmental Data Warehouse

- implemented themes from User Centered Design (UCD) to build Tableau visualizations for 90k+ users across various levels of the organization with differing data needs

- developed custom admin views to analyze usage patterns and identify useful visualizations for development of future visualizations

Jonathon Greene is a SSHE Systems Advisor at ExxonMobil Corporation, the world s largest publicly traded international oil and gas company. Jonathon leads the Data Visualization team in the Corporate Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE) organization. Jonathon is currently responsible for developing the strategic analytics program for SSHE data and the introduction of the SSHE Data Warehouse. The team has received both internal and industry recognition for their insightful analysis and ability to standardize safety programs around the world using Tableau.

Joe Haden is a SSHE systems analyst at ExxonMobil Corporation. He has a passion for implementing analytics solutions to the SSH&E organization, focusing on representing the upstream business within the strategic analytics program.

Analytics Engineering & Design Specialist, ExxonMobil

Chris has over 15 years of experience in IT at ExxonMobil. He is currently an analytics engineering and design specialist focusing on self-service analytics tools, including Tableau. He is responsible for promoting visual best practices across BI tools in addition to fostering and educating the internal Tableau user community through Yammer and SharePoint.
