We want to hear from you about Iron Viz
Last week I published an open letter to the Tableau Public community about Iron Viz, and now it's time to get to work.
I've created a Slack team for open discussion about this competition. In it, you'll find lengthy conversations already underway about #goals and #ideas, and you'll hear from me via the #announcement channel too. This Slack team is meant to be an open forum for discussion, and from it I'll start to compile ideas and resources to share back to the community for validation.
Additionally, I'm planning a few discussions via Google Hangout, Facebook Live, or Webex - whatever I can use to share information widely. While the content for these chats is still to be determined, I'd like to use one as a Q&A about our current judging process. Many of you have asked about how it works, so I'd like to share those details along with some of the challenges we've faced too.
I'll also invite others to present via these chats. I know several groups with timely and relevant information - such as survey results - and I think it's critical we consider as much data as we can.
I'd like to encourage you to join the discussion, particularly if you've participated in Iron Viz or were prevented from doing so for any reason (scheduling, content, messaging, personal, etc.). I can't promise we'll be able to commit to every suggestion, but I will commit to listening, no matter what you have to say.
How to get started
- Need some help getting to know Slack? Here's a primer to help you get going with Slack.
- Use this link to join the Slack team. Occasionally this link may not work, and if that happens simply send me an email and I'll send you an invitation directly.
- Add yourself to the #ideas, #goals and #announcement channels in Slack. You have to do this manually, so don't miss out!
- Still aren't sure about Slack? Feel free to send me your ideas directly!
I'm looking forward to hearing from everyone.
