As our company has grown, we’ve seen more and more people publishing workbooks and data sources to Tableau Server, which we’re thrilled to see. But the growth has also posed a challenge. With more people authoring content, it has become increasingly harder for people to quickly find what they need. That’s why we built MyALPO, an internal tool that provides a personalized homepage for every user.

Today, Microsoft announced the launch of its latest version of its SQL Server product, SQL Server 2016. Microsoft asked us to run some early performance tests on Tableau and the results were pretty impressive, so we thought we’d share a little more detail with you here.

I am a huge fan of doing things the right way instead of using workarounds or shortcuts. Tableau is an incredible tool for solving problems, and using the functionality within Tableau, I have rarely found a problem unsolvable. That being said, sometimes it just makes more sense to make the data easier to work with before bringing it into Tableau.

With the launch of Tableau 9.1, there are now four major areas of extensibility for developers to leverage to extend Tableau in new directions, automate tedious tasks, and connect to more data sources. We’ve also got a new home for developers to get everything they need.
