New Tableau Guidebook by Business Intelligence Expert Daniel G. Murray

By Michelle Wallace 25 Nov, 2013

Dan Murray is a firsthand witness to the time- and cost-saving benefits of Tableau for enterprises of all sizes. A leading business intelligence expert, Murray founded the Tableau support team at InterWorks, a Tableau Gold Partner, in 2008.

Over the years, Murray and his team have helped organizations leverage Tableau for a variety of data visualization needs. And with Murray's new guidebook, Tableau Your Data!: Fast and Easy Visual Analysis with Tableau Software, he and his team share step-by-step instructions for making the most of Tableau.

Beginning with a foreword by Tableau CEO Christian Chabot, Tableau Your Data! outlines Tableau Desktop and Server from the basics of installation and creating your first viz to lesser-known techniques and shortcuts to final dashboard publication.

Murray and the team at InterWorks also show how diverse organizations—in fields from supply chain management to human resources, education, and healthcare—have used Tableau to reduce costs while simultaneously advancing their core missions.

From page one, this book's lucid descriptions show how any organization can use Tableau to improve collaboration across teams and achieve their goals with quicker, more informed decisions.

The book also has an accompanying website with plenty of additional resources and success stories, which excellently complements Tableau's own online resources such as free online training and sample data sets for advancing your Tableau knowledge—whether you're a business or an individual.

If you're part of an organization of any shape or size—or just want an authoritative how-to guide to help you maximize your Tableau experience—make sure to check out Tableau Your Data!: Fast and Easy Visual Analysis with Tableau Software.

I saw these in Barnes and Noble here in Raleigh this week. I was going to move them up higher on the shelf for better product placement - but then realized that you'll need to be able to locate them when you ask for them by name! One subtle, non-core detail that I noticed was the paper quality. This one is built to survive a couple of early morning dataviz coffee spills!
