Tableau, the global leader in visual analytics, has signed an agreement with the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) to equip at least 1,500 public officers with core skillsets and advanced techniques in visual analytics over the next three years. The Memorandum of Intent (MOI), signed on 29 September 2017, will see public officers in the country gain future-proof data skills that will allow them to better perform their duties in line with the country’s Smart Nation vision.

“We are glad to partner industry players, Tableau in this instance, to elevate the data analysis and visualisation skills of public officers, for them to find new and better ways in delivering Government services to the public. As part of our digital government transformation, our aim is for more public officers to be able to understand and make use of data. This will help us accelerate Singapore’s progress towards building a Smart Nation.” said Jacqueline Poh, Chief Executive, GovTech.

The collaboration will also give public agencies access to a bespoke selection of content, learning resources, and subject matter experts from Tableau, where concepts and best practices in visual analytics are constantly being advanced.

JY Pook, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, Tableau, commented: “At Tableau, we aim to help everyone see and understand data and government organisations are no exception. We have been committing our resources to support government organisations across the globe through our software and enablement programmes, allowing them to easily and quickly access, analyse, and share their data. Data is a strategic asset in all aspects of government and when presented clearly, it has enormous potential to improve mission critical outcomes. We are thrilled to be able to play a role in Singapore’s mandate of digitalising the public sector, transforming its operations, and empowering its public officers with data skills.”
