Tableau Ranks First Among All Vendors in Customer Loyalty, Lowest Total Cost of Ownership, and Ease of Implementation in World’s Largest Survey of Business Intelligence Users

Survey from Germany’s Business Analytics Research Council (BARC) Finds Tableau Beats World’s Largest Vendors in Multiple Categories; Its Customers Also Most Likely to Purchase More Licenses

SEATTLE, WA – November 14, 2011 – Tableau Software today announced that an independent survey of the world’s Business Intelligence (BI) companies placed it first in customer loyalty, lowest cost of ownership, and ease of implementation across all vendors. Tableau beat out larger BI rivals such as IBM, Oracle, SAP, MicroStrategy and QlikTech in key performance indicators in these major categories. The BI Survey 10, conducted by the Business Application Research Center (BARC) is the world’s largest survey of end users of business intelligence software.

The BI Survey 10 provides a detailed quantitative analysis of why customers buy BI tools, what they use them for and how successful they are. More than 2,000 respondents’ answers were analyzed. Tableau not only ranked highest amongst its peers in the specialized analysis products group, but it outperformed all products in the BI Survey 10 in key performance indicators related to user loyalty and costs. It had the highest score in the area of in-house implementation by a very wide margin.

“Tableau’s BI Survey 10 results were very good,” said Barney Finucane, lead author at BARC. “The survey shows that Tableau’s customers are very happy with the product due to its ease of implementation and low cost. The survey also found it to be quite innovative, offering analytical features that make it well suited for predictive analytics. It’s an accomplishment to beat out some of the world’s largest BI players in these key performance categories.”

“The BI Survey 10 validates that our mission to help people see and understand data is working,” said Bruno Saint-Cast, VP for Europe at Tableau Software. “We constantly hear from our customers how they went from struggling with their data to using it for improving their companies. Their loyalty and satisfaction come from their ability to perform their jobs better with Tableau.”

The BI Survey 10 reflects a worldwide sample of the global market for BI products. Approximately 64 percent of its respondents were from European countries, a key area of growth for Tableau. The company launched French and German versions of Tableau 6.1 earlier this year and has seen great momentum as a result.

“With traditional BI tools it can be difficult to actually visualize and make sense of the data,” said Giedre Aleknonyte, Billing and Revenue Assurance Business Analyst at Kabel Deutschland. “When we’re looking at millions of rows of data, it’s important to have an all-in-one tool that can access various data sources and deliver analysis in a fraction of the time it used to take. For us, Tableau is that tool.”
