Tableau Expanding in Fremont

Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), a global leader in rapid-fire, easy-to-use business analytics software, today announced that it has signed for an approximately 210,000 square feet office at NorthEdge, a four-story mixed-use building just north of Gas wWorks Park in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. The building is already under construction and should be ready for occupancy in the second half of 2016, providing growth space for more than 1,300 employees. Tableau has more than 1,200 employees within the Seattle Metro Area, between six buildings in Fremont and one in Kirkland.

“We are thrilled to announce our expansion in Fremont, the neighborhood we’ve called home for more than 10 years,” said Tom Walker, Chief Financial Officer at Tableau. “Fremont has contributed greatly to Tableau’s overall culture and will continue to serve as our worldwide headquarters for years to come. This is exciting news for our current and future employees.”

NorthEdge is located between N. 34th Street and N. Northlake Avenue, with the Burke-Gilman Trail running directly along the south side of the building. The main lobby will be on the N. 34th Street side, where visitors will enter to a stunning central lobby that looks across Lake Union and features connecting stairs to the floors above and below. In addition to the office space, NorthEdge will have street-facing retail units along N. 34th Street, as well as a public roof terrace with stunning views of Mount Rainier, the city, and the Space Needle. Tableau’s office will also feature three large private terraces with the same views. There will be more than 100 bicycle spaces, plus showers and lockers, for the many Tableau employees who cycle, run, and even swim to work. NorthEdge is being developed by Seattle-based Touchstone.

Within the next few months, Tableau will begin fit-outs of additional office spaces at two locations: 1000 N. Northlake Avenue and 701 N. 34th Street. In late June, the company also signed an agreement to expand into the entirety of 1441 N. 34th Street, where it has one floor already.

The company opened an office in Kirkland in 2011 to attract employees from the east side of Lake Washington. Tableau expects to continue growing in both Fremont and the eastside. Over the past few years, Tableau has also launched and expanded offices in Austin, Washington DC, London, Dublin, Frankfurt, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo.
