Please join us for the next USDA Tableau User Group quarterly webcast to learn how Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Office of Policy and Program Development (OPPD) and Rural Development Business Center (RDBC) are using Tableau to help advance the USDA mission.
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) – Using Tableau for leveraging existing data to provide better customer service
The Office of Policy and Program Development in FSIS leverages the visualization and interactive functions of Tableau to enhance customer experience by allowing stakeholders the ability to interact with and visualize publically available data based on their individual needs. With approximately 9,600 employees generating data, affecting numerous types of inspections operations at 6,400 inspected establishments, data is plentiful and can be overwhelming. This presentation will cover how FSIS uses various Tableau functions to generate user-friendly dashboards that can better organize and present this data and provide a better customer service experience for our external and internal customers.
USDA Rural Development (RD) – Hyperion Report Conversion to Tableau
USDA RD is using Tableau Desktop and Server to migrate enterprise reports and dashboards off of the Hyperion platform as Oracle is discontinuing support of the Hyperion product. Tableau is allowing RD to consolidate and improve upon many of the reports and dashboards that are critical to the analysis of information related to all of RD’s Loan and Grant programs across the enterprise. Ad hoc reporting is made possible by the publishing of data sources and prebuilt worksheets that can be used as a starting point for users to generate customized reports as needed.
Tableau is empowering and enabling analysts, executives, and many users across the USDA with the power of visual analytics to make fact-based, data-driven decisions and provide a better customer experience.
Tableau’s mission to help people see and understand data greatly complements Secretary Perdue’s vision for a fact-based, data-driven decision making agency.
