Joe Mantione is currently the Assistant Vice Provost in Institutional Analysis at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. A veteran of 27 years in Higher Education, IT and Analytics, Joe has led efforts on a number of hosted solutions for workflow, accreditation management, survey services, web hosting, data warehousing and academic analytics. He has developed IT Strategic and transformation plans for UB’s Academic Health Center, UB’s Law School and several administrative units. He developed and implemented web strategies, including UB’s first web presence in 1992. As project lead on institutional Services and Server Consolidation he managed the reduction of infrastructure without loss of services and managed the day to day operations for the IT needs of over 1,500 employees. He has chaired university-wide committees on Active Directory, Business Intelligence, Security, Application Development, Document Imaging, Educational Technology and Knowledge Management standards. And as chief financial officer for the School of Management and manager of telecommunications he managed multimillion dollar budgets.
As an instructor Joe has taught classes in Information Architecture, Educational Technology Policy and Planning and Emerging Technology.
Having lived in Western New York his entire life Joe is keenly aware of the value of Higher Education as an economic force for change in historically industrial cities and the life changing influence an affordable college degree can have on an immigrant middle class family.
