Joe Mantione

Assistant Vice Provost, Institutional Analysis, University at Buffalo

Joe Mantione is currently the Assistant Vice Provost in Institutional Analysis at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. A veteran of 27 years in Higher Education, IT and Analytics, Joe has led efforts on a number of hosted solutions for workflow, accreditation management, survey services, web hosting, data warehousing and academic analytics. He has developed IT Strategic and transformation plans for UB’s Academic Health Center, UB’s Law School and several administrative units. He developed and implemented web strategies, including UB’s first web presence in 1992. As project lead on institutional Services and Server Consolidation he managed the reduction of infrastructure without loss of services and managed the day to day operations for the IT needs of over 1,500 employees. He has chaired university-wide committees on Active Directory, Business Intelligence, Security, Application Development, Document Imaging, Educational Technology and Knowledge Management standards. And as chief financial officer for the School of Management and manager of telecommunications he managed multimillion dollar budgets.

As an instructor Joe has taught classes in Information Architecture, Educational Technology Policy and Planning and Emerging Technology.

Having lived in Western New York his entire life Joe is keenly aware of the value of Higher Education as an economic force for change in historically industrial cities and the life changing influence an affordable college degree can have on an immigrant middle class family.


Pat Lougheed

Director, Business and Policy Analysis in Registrar and Enrollment Services, Simon Fraser University

Pat Lougheed is director, business & policy analysis in Student Services at Simon Fraser University - a role that encompasses business, policy, and data analysis of student related information for the entire campus community. Pat’s background is in IT, but he has spent the last 8 years in Student Services. Pat’s been using Tableau Desktop for roughly 8 years and has been the business area champion (and reluctant administration) of SFU’s Tableau Server implementation for 2 years.


Ken Brown

Chief Information Officer, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Whitworth University

Ken Brown is the Chief Information Officer for Whitworth University, overseeing the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Information Systems and Institutional Research. Mr. Brown serves on the President’s Cabinet and is leading efforts across the university to use data analytics and visualization to increase program effectiveness and data informed decision making. Prior to coming to Whitworth 6 years ago he spent 8 years as the Chief Technology Officer for a large K-12 public school system following a 20 year career as a software developer and director in the telecommunications industry.
