Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA) has been named the top company in the extra large company category, Washington's Best Workplaces, by Puget Sound Business Journal. The program was launched in 2007 to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people. After an extensive and rigorous process, which included the completion of surveys by nominee-company employees across the state, workplaces in four different categories have been identified as Washington's best, based on their various employee benefit offerings, leadership culture and work/life balance philosophies. In total, 85 companies were named as finalists.

Tableau had 930 employees at the end of the second quarter of 2013, adding 96 between April 1 and June 30 of this year. As part of the survey for “Best Workplaces,” employees rated statements such as, “I am always thinking about ways to do my job better,” and, “The organization makes investments to make me more successful.”

“We’re honored to receive the gold for ‘Best Workplace’ for the second year in a row,” said Tom Walker, Chief Financial Officer at Tableau Software. “Our employees have made this award possible. We owe it to their hard work to make Tableau a great place to spend each day.”

“Washington State is known globally for its exceptional and innovated businesses, and what is truly inspiring is that many of these companies are also great places to work. The Puget Sound Business Journal is proud to recognize all 85 companies,” said Gordon Prouty, Publisher of the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Nearly 1,200 people cheered at Safeco Field on August 8 as the Puget Sound Business Journal revealed the 10 winners of its 2013 Washington Best Workplaces competition.
