Tableau Software, the global leader in rapid-fire business intelligence software, today announced it is one of the first business intelligence applications to run on the newest innovation in Cloudera Enterprise, Cloudera Impala™, which is magnitudes faster than existing Hadoop interfaces. Cloudera, a leader and innovator in the Hadoop space, chose Tableau as one of the first independent software vendors (ISVs) to be certified on Impala.

Cloudera announced Impala today at the Strata Conference + Hadoop World 2012. This latest innovation in Cloudera Enterprise, which takes the market-leading Apache Hadoop platform decisively "beyond batch," Cloudera Impala™, is an Apache-licensed, real-time query engine for data stored in HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) and HBase that is a result of two years of in-house development. Cloudera Enterprise RTQ (Real-time Query) provides the management and support capabilities needed to effectively operate Impala in production environments.

"We're pleased to have Tableau's support as we introduce this major innovation for our Big Data Platform," said Tim Stevens, Vice President of Business and Corporate Development at Cloudera. "With Cloudera Impala and Tableau our mutual customers can now process data at petabyte scale and visualize and interact with their data in real-time.”

Tableau first announced support for CDH (Cloudera’s Distribution Including Apache Hadoop) one year ago, allowing users to create reports, data visualizations and dashboards without any programming or coding.

“We are delighted to continue our outstanding relationship with Cloudera by adding support for Impala. Our joint work makes accessing and analyzing Big Data faster and easier than ever before,” said Dan Jewett, Vice President of Product Management at Tableau Software. “Impala brings tremendous performance advances to accessing data in Hadoop, which combined with Tableau's award-winning visual analytics and discovery will help our joint customers to continue unlocking business value from their data, no matter how big or complex.”
