And the winner of the #DataDev hackathon is...

We’ve just wrapped up a hackathon where we asked the Tableau developer community to submit their hacks using the new JavaScript (JS) API. Our JS API enables developers to create custom portals and mobile applications that embed Tableau vizzes and dashboards. The JS API can also be used to extend Tableau in new and creative ways.

We saw submissions from developers across the world, and we narrowed the submissions down to two terrific finalists, and asked our community to vote for their favorite hack.

With less than 8% of the total vote separating the two finalists, we are delighted to announce the winner of the 2017 JS API Hackathon: John Hegele!

John created an interactive narrative dashboard with a new level of storytelling. We can't wait to see John at TC17 in Las Vegas.

Congratulations to our runner-up, Gyula Laszlo, who created a mind-blowing dashboard that included a full-blown music mixer with 3D graphics.

Don’t miss our huge TC17 hackathon in Las Vegas on October 9. Join a few hundred of your fellow hackers for a day, and build something using Tableau’s developer platform APIs and tools. There will be over 40 Tableau engineers on hand to help. The top projects will be invited to present on the big stage Tuesday night, and have a chance to win glamorous prizes along with the title of “Best Hack in the Known Universe.”
