Tableau Software Launches Tableau Public Author Profiles

Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA) today announced that it has provided every Tableau Public user with an online profile page to showcase the visualizations they have published to the web using the company’s free product.

Since Tableau Public launched in February 2010, the number of users, called “authors” by Tableau, has steadily grown to more than 40,000. Authors can be found on six different continents, and they have been converting spreadsheets and tables into richly interactive data visualizations covering a wide range of topics, from sports to health and politics.

These authors now have a place to showcase a gallery of their best work, and readers of news sites and blogs now have a way to easily browse the work of their favorite authors by clicking on the byline “See more by this author” at the bottom of every published work.

In order to give authors the ability to customize their profile page, Tableau has included in the first version of this feature the ability to:

•Hide or show the byline for each workbook
•Hide or show each workbook
•Add an author name, location and bio
•Provide links to websites and social media pages
•Feature a workbook at the top of their profile page

All authors were sent an email that included an exclusive link to their profile page last week along with instructions to customize their profile ahead of this week’s launch.

Authors interested in accessing their profile can log in to their account at www.tableaupublic.com and click “My Profile” on the left side of the page.
