Tableau Software was named the top large company, Washington's Best Workplaces, by Puget Sound Business Journal. The program was launched in 2007 to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people. After an extensive and rigorous process, which included the completion of surveys by nominee-company employees across the state, workplaces in four different categories have been identified as Washington's best, based on their various employee benefit offerings, leadership culture and work/life balance philosophies. In total, 85 companies were named as finalists.

Tableau is in the midst of rapid growth as a company, ending 2011 with 350 employees and plans to hire another 300 in 2012. As part of the survey for “Best Workplaces,” employees rated statements such as, “I am always thinking about ways to do my job better,” and, “The organization makes investments to make me more successful.”

“We’re honored to receive the gold for ‘Best Workplace’ in the large company category,” said Tom Walker, Chief Financial Officer at Tableau Software. “We owe this award to our employees who’ve made Tableau a great place to work day in and day out. We’re proud that PSBJ recognizes our success during a time of rapid expansion and innovation.”

“Work-force development has never been more important – or more difficult – than it is in today’s economy,” said Gordon Prouty, publisher of the Business Journal. “We believe the Business Journal, as the Puget Sound area’s top source of business information, has an important role to play in drawing attention to innovations and excellence in the management of our region’s No. 1 resource: its people.”

More than 1,200 people cheered at Safeco Field on August 10 as the Puget Sound Business Journal revealed the 10 winners of its 2012 Washington Best Workplaces competition.
