We’d like to wish a hearty congratulations to Tableau’s resident IT guru, Brian Smith. Last week, our VP of technical operations was recognized at the Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2013 CIO Awards, honoring leaders from some of the Seattle area’s most prestigious companies. Brian was named a finalist for Best CIO of a Large Company.

For the last three years, Brian has been leading the corporate IT, product operations, business systems and customer operations teams. That includes partnering with our facilities team to build out new offices, helping our product development teams to design the “factory floor” needed to build our products, building and running the infrastructure supporting our online products, streamlining our sales tools, processing our orders and helping marketing to keep our web site humming and trials running.

Brian says the favorite part of his job is, “helping Tableau expand at a very fast pace, enabling our employees to be more productive, building the infrastructure necessary to develop, test and deliver our products and helping our customers get their first ‘wow’ moment with our product.”

Brian was recognized alongside tech leaders from companies such as Zulily, Alaska Air Group, Premera Blue Cross and the Seattle Seahawks. That’s some pretty good company!
