Ambassadors Program feedback: new leader seeks input

Meet Recognition Programs Community Lead Britt Staniar and share your feedback on improving Tableau's Ambassador programs.

Hello World! This is my first post in my new role leading Tableau’s recognition programs—the Tableau Ambassadors and Zen Masters. I’m so excited to get started, learn more about the community, and get your input on how to improve our programs.

The community is why I’m here

Maybe I should start out by introducing myself: Over the past four years, I’ve worked in Tableau as an audience and product marketer, contextualizing Tableau to users in departments like sales, customer service, and human resources. Along the way, I’ve posted blog posts, hosted user meetups at Tableau Conference, and even presented our “Tableau on Tableau for Marketing” presentation. I’ve also taken part in Makeover Mondays and Workout Wednesdays, contributed to a new user group, and made my love for our product official by becoming a Desktop Certified Associate.

In all of my time at Tableau, my most rewarding experiences have been getting to know customers in the community, learning how they use the product, and seeing what happens when curious people are empowered to answer their questions with data. So when the opportunity came up to take a role supporting Tableau’s leading innovators and advocates, I jumped at the opportunity.

What I’ve heard from the community

Since I joined the community team a few weeks ago, I’ve gotten to know some of our Ambassadors and been personally inspired by my conversations. These leaders have shared how rewarding it is for them to push the limits of the product, share their learnings, and give back to the community. I’ve been wowed by their recent contributions to projects like the COVID-19 Data Hub, the Racial Data Equity Hub, and Campaign Zero’s Police Scorecard.

I’ve also heard frank feedback about the need to create a more diverse and inclusive environment, to be considerate of the pandemic’s impact on our stakeholders, and to continue investing in growing our community. To everyone who has already shared these opinions: Thank you. My colleagues and I on the community team are excited to take on these challenges, support our community, and help our Ambassadors and Zen Masters share Tableau’s magic.

Please share your voice

Before we open up the Ambassador nomination and application process in late June, we’d like to open up the conversation to everyone. Do you have any feedback or bright ideas for improving Tableau’s Ambassador programs? Please take about five minutes to share your thoughts in the survey below—anonymously if that works best for you (or leave your name and contact info and we’ll reach out if appropriate). We anticipate doing a similar exercise for Zen Masters towards the end of the year.

We can’t promise that every idea you submit will be incorporated this year, but we will look at the every response and consider it carefully. Thanks for taking the time to fill out the survey and make our community better for everyone.
