Orlando, FL – Feb. 11th, 2019 - Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), the leader in visual analytics, today announced that several leading healthcare organizations have adopted its self-service analytics platform to analyze healthcare data across the enterprise. Leading healthcare organizations continue to adopt Tableau as their trusted platform for patient and operational analytics, including Alberta Health Services, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

At the 2019 HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Tableau will be showcasing its upcoming ‘Ask Data’ natural language capabilities, which introduces an entirely new way for people to interact with their data by allowing them to ask questions in plain language, making it possible for anyone to analyze data, regardless of their skill set. This empowers everyone including healthcare executives, line of business leaders, clinicians and nurses, to leverage natural language to ask questions and produce insights.

Providence Regional Medical Center Everett has embraced the lean startup model and agile analytics to enable operational excellence across their clinical, population health, quality and safety, and operational business processes, to enable superior patient outcomes, and attain HIMSS meaningful use stage 7.

“Visual analytics from Tableau has been key to our healthcare analytics success story,” said Dr. Karin Larson-Pollock, Chief Quality and Analytics Officer, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. “The ease and flexibility of Tableau‘s visual analytics platform has enabled our team to quickly ramp up and embrace the agile framework in order to deliver measurable value to our healthcare system in less than twelve months.”

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is the largest integrated healthcare system in Canada and has deployed self-service visual analytics for their opioids monitoring and surveillance initiative. Visual analytics from Tableau has helped AHS identify the specific areas in the province of Alberta with disproportionate opioid abuse to assist with the distribution of take-home-Naloxone kits via pharmacies and walk-in clinics to help friends and relatives of opioid users save their lives in the event of an opioid overdose adverse event. Given their success with opioids surveillance, AHS is extending this initiative to cannabis and crystal meth surveillance in 2019-20.

At Texas Children’s Hospital, physicians in the cardiac intensive care unit are leveraging self-service visual analytics from Tableau to decipher insights regarding medication dosage for newborns and children with cardiovascular defects. These actionable insights have driven process improvements in pain and sedation care protocols with a positive impact on patient outcomes while reducing the length of stay and the exposure to narcotic medications for these fragile patients while offering them a promise of a better quality of life.

“Our mission at Tableau is to help provide our healthcare customers, including leading hospitals and health systems, with actionable insights that directly lead to improved patient care, while delivering a tangible return on their IT investments,” said Andy Dé, senior global industry director for healthcare and life sciences at Tableau. “With Tableau’s easy-to-use, end to end analytics platform, everyone from doctors and nurses to IT administrators can have access to powerful visual insights at all times, making it easy to make data-driven decisions about patient care.”

Tableau will be providing demonstrations of its visual analytics platform at the upcoming 2019 HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition in Orlando. Attendees can visit Tableau in the HIMSS Exhibition Hall at booth #1101, or online at http://www.tableau.com/healthcare-analytics.
