Tableau unveils new Asia Pacific office in Singapore to mark Golden Jubilee

Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA) today unveiled its new office in Singapore as the country celebrates its 50th birthday. The announcement of its new 50,000 square foot office underscores the importance of Singapore as Tableau’s regional hub.

“As Singapore takes steps to become the world’s first Smart Nation, we find that it continues to be the perfect location to expand in the region,” said JY Pook, Vice President of APAC for Tableau. “Our mission to help people see and understand data fits in well with the nation’s innovative landscape and plans for transformation in the next 50 years.”

Tableau first opened its Singapore office in 2012. The opening of its office at South Beach Development marks a culmination of successive expansions of operations across the region in recent months. In July, Tableau announced the opening of its new Japan office in the heart of Ginza, Tokyo, followed by the launch of its Shanghai office in Raffles City, Huangpu District in August. The milestone event saw more than 100 local customers and partners toast to the company’s success in China.

APAC is a key region in Tableau. And contributing to Tableau's increasing relevance in the region is the recognition by more organizations of the benefits of having self-reliant, data-driven strategies. An IDC study commissioned by Tableau this year found that firms which enable their employees to access and analyze data for themselves are twice as likely to outperform organizations that don’t.

Metro, a household retail brand in Singapore is one such example of an organization that has successfully embraced a data-driven culture. The company operates a chain of department stores in Singapore and constantly collects a variety of data at these stores to gain valuable insights into peak and lull shopping periods, inventory flow, and customer purchase behaviors. By analyzing these trends, Metro has been able to effectively plan operational and promotional strategies and consistently improve efficiency and sales performance. With Tableau, Metro successfully integrated the use of data analytics into its retail operation, enhanced the way departments work and communicate with each other, streamlined logistical support to retail outlets, and designed customer-centric promotional campaigns. What used to take Metro weeks to analyze data, has now been reduced to seconds. Tableau’s impact on Metro’s business in its first two years of implementation has since prompted the company to plan on pushing data analytics to its nine other stores in Indonesia.

When it is fully opened, Tableau’s new office will have capacity for more than 300 employees. The facility will occupy four levels in South Beach Developments, spanning 50,000 square feet in the development’s 34-story north-facing tower on 38 Beach Road, Singapore 189767.
