The variety and size of data that is accessible to marketers is expanding daily. This creates a fantastic opportunity for analysis, but also presents the problem of combining multiple different kinds of databases.
Traditionally, combining multiple different databases, like SQL Server and Teradata, would have required an ETL (extract transform and load) project, combining the different sources in a common database. The problem is that ETL projects often take months and require considerable investment. More commonly, marketers who needed to analyze multiple datasources would attempt to export both of those sources into a common format like a CSV and then analyze them together in Excel. Unfortunately exporting is unscalable and incompatible with larger datasources.
Luckily, there is another method for combining multiple datasources: Data Blending. Click through the Slideshare below to learn more.
In summary, Data Blending allows you to join your disparate datasources with a click and then analyze the fields within them as if they were a single database. No more ETL, no more epic Excel projects, just connect to your data where it is and analyze.
