How do peaks in Twitter followers line up with political poll results for Presidential candidates? Zoe Fox at Mashable takes a closer look at the Republican candidates with data from Zach Green of 140elect LLC .
Green, whose firm builds Twitter campaigns for the 2012 elections, provided the data on how many Twitter followers each candidate has gained. The polling data is a moving average of the past five national polls listed in the Huffington Post's Pollster. Use the buttons at the top to flip between the candidates. Hover over a peak to see the most popular tweet for the candidate on that day.
Gingrich is the candidate of the hour, being the only Republican with rising poll numbers. You can see his Twitter followers spiked on September 7th and his poll numbers started rising soon afterwards. What do you think of these data?
