Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), a global leader in rapid-fire, easy-to-use business analytics software, today announced its strong placement in the 2014 BARC BI Survey. The survey, an independent report on the world’s business intelligence companies, places Tableau first in ten areas of its three peer groups including “data discovery/visualization,” “innovation,” “ease of use” and “collaboration.” The report also ranked Tableau highest among large international BI vendors in the percentage of users would recommend the product to others.

The BARC BI Survey 14 is based on findings from the world’s largest and most comprehensive survey of business intelligence end-users, conducted in 2014. In total, 3,224 people responded to The Survey, with 2,348 answering a series of detailed questions about their usage of a named product. Altogether, 34 products (or groups of products) are analyzed in detail. The BI Survey 14 examines BI product selection and usage among users in areas including business benefits, costs, proportion of employees using the product, competitiveness, recommendation, innovation, performance, customer satisfaction, and agility.

Tableau is ranked alongside vendors in the categories of “large international BI vendors,” “visual discovery vendors,” and “dashboard vendors.”

“Tableau is a market leader in data visualization and agile data exploration,” said Dr. Carsten Bange, CEO and founder of BARC. “People at companies large and small find Tableau offers one of the best solutions in areas including data discovery, dashboarding, and self-service data analysis. Notably, customers give Tableau the highest ratings in the industry based on its ease of use, its visualization capabilities, data discovery features, and its innovativeness as a company.”

The report also highlights Tableau’s analytics capabilities for large volumes of data in the visual discovery peer group and mobile BI across all of its peer groups. The company also received high marks for project success, which measures the implementation satisfaction level and for the frequency of projects completed on-budget and on-time.

“People choose Tableau for the ability to interact with and explore their data, and to get insights from almost any types of data,” said Elissa Fink, Chief Marketing Officer at Tableau Software. “This report confirms that Tableau continues to be an industry leader in areas like data discovery and visualization. We’re particularly thrilled that Tableau continues to lead the visual discovery peer group in customer recommendations for the second year in a row.”
