Tableau Ranks Top in Business Benefits and Business Achievements in World’s Largest Survey of Business Intelligence Users

Global survey from Germany’s BARC finds Tableau also leads in self-service, agility, visualization and collaboration among its peer groups

Publication date:

Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), a global leader in rapid-fire, easy-to-use business analytics software, today announced that an independent survey of the world’s business intelligence companies placed it first in “business benefits,” “agility” and “business achievements” among all peer groups and vendors. Business benefits represent users‘ ranking of benefits achieved by projects after implementation; business achievements are the extent to which the product delivers business value and helps organizations achieve their goals. The Business Intelligence (BI) Survey 13, conducted by the Business Application Research Center (BARC) is the world’s largest survey of end users of business intelligence software.

The BI Survey 13 is based on findings from the world's largest and most comprehensive survey of business intelligence end-users, conducted earlier this year. In total, 3,149 people responded to The Survey with 2,298 answering a series of detailed questions about their usage of a named product. Altogether, 30 products or groups of products received a detailed analysis. The BI Survey 13 examines BI product selection and usage among users in areas including business benefits, costs, proportion of employees using the product, competitiveness, recommendation, innovation, performance, customer satisfaction and agility.

Tableau was featured in the Dashboard, Ad-hoc Analysis, and Visual Analysis and Data Discovery Vendor peer groups. Tableau was top ranked in business benefits and business achievements in all three peer groups.

“Tableau came out very well in the BI Survey 13 results,” said Dr. Carsten Bange CEO and founder at BARC. “The survey shows that Tableau’s customers are very happy with the product in a number of key performance indicators, including self-service, agility, visualization, collaboration, business benefits and business achievement.”

The report also names Tableau the top ranked Visual Analysis and Data Discovery Vendor in data volume, “Tableau significantly beats big rival QlikTech in the Visual Analysis & Data Discovery Vendor peer group. We see in The BI Survey results that Tableau customers are using the product with larger data volumes than QlikTech customers do. This is down to the performance of its own data storage technology and steadily improving data engine which is being optimized for handling large volumes of data to deliver good performance during analyses.”

“The BI Survey 13 confirms that that our mission to help people see and understand data is working,” said Elissa Fink, Chief Marketing Officer at Tableau Software. “We are particularly pleased to learn that we are the top ranked Visual Analysis and Data Discovery Vendor in recommendation. The fact that Tableau customers would recommend our product to others is an indication that people are performing their jobs better with Tableau.”The BI Survey 13 results can be viewed at http://www.tableausoftware.com/learn/whitepapers/bi-survey-13-customer-….
