Ceradyne Chooses Tableau Software for Global Data Analytics

Data Driven Company Will Deploy Tableau across Multiple Divisions and Countries

Publication date:

Ceradyne, Inc. has chosen Tableau Software to help visualize and analyze its data. The vertically integrated developer and manufacturer of advanced technical ceramics is rolling Tableau out to employees in North America and Germany and will eventually deploy the software to additional operational divisions in China.

Ceradyne will use Tableau to improve its business intelligence by analyzing data from a number of different areas in the organization, such as sales, orders, backlog, inventory costs and operating expenses. Tableau will help employees to identify trends in the business to insure customer demands and profit margins are being met and problems are solved.

“Numbers are the language of our business, but we have to be able to analyze them quickly and accurately to affect change,” said Jerry Pellizzon, CFO at Ceradyne. “We chose Tableau because of its ease-of-use and intuitiveness. It will help employees across our company to discover, understand and see trends and outliers in the numbers so they can take quick action.”

Ceradyne installed SAP globally over the past few years, providing employees with more detailed data. Tableau dashboards will allow the ability to drill down into that data, spotting problems before they arise.

“Ceradyne is an example of a large, global company with a lot of niches and product lines, each producing hefty volumes of data,” said Dan Jewett, vice president of product management at Tableau Software. “Tableau can help to bring a more global picture to the data so employees can see and understand what it’s telling them.”
