Tableau Software, the leader in rapid-fire business intelligence, today announced that it has appointed Ren Jurgensen to its Board of Directors. Jurgensen serves on the boards of Bsquare Corporation and ASG Consolidated LLC. He previously served on the boards of Isilon Systems, Inc., McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, Inc., and Varolii Corporation. He has been the “Audit Committee Financial Expert” for Bsquare, Isilon and McCormick & Schmicks.

Jurgensen brings a wealth of expertise in accounting, finance and governance. He was a practicing CPA with KPMG LLP for 32 years where he served as an audit partner. At KPMG he held a number of leadership roles, including National Partner in Charge of KPMG’s Hospitality Industry Practice, Managing Partner of the Bellevue, Wash. office, and Managing Partner of the Seattle office. His audit experience concentrated primarily on public companies in the technology, manufacturing, life sciences and hospitality industries.

“Tableau is ushering business analytics out of the dark ages and into a golden era of easy, self-service analytics for everyone,” said Christian Chabot, CEO and co-founder of Tableau Software. “We believe it’s one of the most important trends in technology today. Jurgensen’s experience and talent on our Board will help us drive this movement to the next level.”

“Tableau is changing the landscape of business intelligence with its outstanding technology,” said Jurgensen. “It is well positioned to continue its growth based on its track record of innovation and an exceptional leadership team.”

Jurgensen has been involved with a number of charitable, community and business organizations including the Hope Heart Institute, Seattle Children’s Home, The Village Theater, Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association, Washington Software Association (now WTIA), Corporate Council for the Arts, Salvation Army, University Preparatory Academy and InRoads of Puget Sound. He is a member of the Washington State Society of CPAs and has a B.S. in Accounting from San Jose State University.

Tableau announced the appointment of Brooke Seawell to its Board this past February and has been building out its management team as well. Last fall, Jay Peir joined as its vice president of corporate development. Peir spent the past nine years at SunPower Corporation where he led their IPO preparations. Tableau also brought Keenan Conder on board as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Conder has an extensive history in high growth public companies including Isilon Systems and Expedia.

Tableau was spun out of Stanford in 2003 when Chabot, Chris Stolte and Pat Hanrahan realized that computer graphics could deliver huge gains in people’s ability to understand information. The company has had eight years of record sales, achieving 83 percent sales growth in 2011, and is up more than 100 percent for the first half of 2012.
