London – February 1, 2011: A team of industry pioneers, including a founding father of Pixar animation studios, a Stanford protégée and the executive who launched salesforce.com in Europe are on a mission to bring visual literacy and rapid-fire business intelligence to EMEA. After establishing one of the fastest growing data visualisation and business intelligence software companies in the US, the Tableau Software executive team today announced it is launching a UK division, with further plans to expand into France and Germany by the end of the year.

Tableau Software, another in the prestigious line-up of Stanford spin-offs, including Google, Yahoo and VMWare, is rebooting the business intelligence sector. It has already helped more than 6,500 customers worldwide – from law enforcement to the gaming industry to FMCG – rethink the way they see, use, and interact with, the data that defines their business.

The new European arm, based in Richmond, Surrey, is headed up by Bruno Saint-Cast, the executive renowned for launching salesforce.com in Europe. Saint-Cast’s ambitions for Tableau Software in Europe include quadrupling EMEA revenues between 2010 and 2012.

“My intention is to do for Tableau Software and business analytics, what we did for salesforce.com and the cloud,” commented Bruno Saint-Cast, VP for Europe at Tableau Software. “2011 is all about data and making it as fast and easy as possible to understand and use. This is one of the greatest market opportunities of this decade and Tableau Software is the game changer that will redefine the industry.”

Tableau Software offers lightning-fast business analytics and visualisation products that are simple, effective and affordable. Its software designers take a completely fresh approach to developing their tools, by first understanding how people think, explore and problem solve and then designing the tools from these cognitive and psychological starting points.

As part of this approach, Tableau Software is focussed on keeping its products as intuitive as possible. This includes making the software so easy that it virtually fades into the background, ensuring the focus in on the data instead of the software itself. In addition, the deployment is quick and painless, so organisations can be ready to go in minutes instead of the usual weeks or months most business intelligence applications require.

Saint-Cast commented: “Businesses are faced with an onslaught of information and are hungry for ways to better understand, and communicate about, their business. The difficulty lies in extracting and presenting those valuable nuggets of information so that they are clear and useable. Tableau Software finally makes it possible for anyone to create powerful and transformational images that can bring to life, with just one glance, the health of their business or industry trend.”

In addition to its paid enterprise solutions, Tableau Software has a free web product called Tableau Public, commonly used by bloggers, journalists, and leading media websites to share data online as interactive visualisations.

Tableau Software’s headquarters are in Richmond, Surrey. For more details please contact the Tableau team at europeansales@tableausoftware.com.
