“Big Data with a Big Heart” – Tableau Foundation awards NVPC with grant to drive social impact with data

SINGAPORE, 22 June 2017 – Change makers around the globe are discovering that data is a powerful ally in their efforts to create a better world. Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), working through Tableau Foundation, today announced that it has awarded its first grant in Singapore to the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC).

The grant is valued at over USD81, 000 (approximately SGD112, 153) and consists of Tableau licenses and training services. Both NVPC and Tableau believe that data can have enormous value to non-profit organisations, enabling them to increase transparency and accountability, expand their relationships with funders, discover new trends in their programmes, and tell more powerful stories about their communities.

Tableau is a global visual analytics leader that helps people to see and understand data. NVPC’s Research and Giving.sg teams are now using Tableau to connect and visualize governed data quickly, combine multiple views of data, gain actionable insights and share secured information with key NVPC staff for data-driven decision making on the go. With Tableau, it has increased the ease and efficiency for NVPC’s Giving.sg team to perform targeted email marketing based on user profiles and behaviours. The good results led to a significant 56% increase in donation amounts on Giving.sg between April 2016 and April 2017.

In addition to this grant, Tableau Foundation also makes free licenses of its powerful visual analytics software to small non-profits, NGOs, and charitable community-based organizations across the Asia Pacific region. That program is paired with the Tableau Service Corps, a volunteer network of Tableau employees who are eager to help non-profits of any size explore and do good with their data.

Finally, following on this partnership with NVPC, Tableau Foundation is announcing its 2017 Community Grant cycle. Eligible non-profit organisations in Singapore may apply for the locally-focused cash and software grants at tableau.com/foundation/employee-and-community before 31 July 2017.
