Tableau Software, a global leader in visual analytics, is partnering with the Honorary Brazilian Consulate in Seattle, Wash., to celebrate data and its impact on storytelling around the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio. The partnership will culminate in an event, held August 3, 2016, at City Hall in Seattle, which will feature a gallery of data visualizations produced by Tableau and the Tableau Community showcasing stories about Olympics past and present.
“The Rio 2016 games are generating excitement here in Seattle and around the world,” said Pedro Augusto Leite Costa, Honorary Brazil Consul in Seattle. “Seattle is a center of innovation in data, so it only makes sense to gather here to share and explore data stories about the Olympic Games.”
“The interest in Olympics data is clear,” echoed Elissa Fink, Chief Marketing Officer at Tableau. “Authors using Tableau Public have created more than 1,500 data stories about the Olympics. We are thrilled to share a few of these with a local and global audience here in Seattle.”
Data visualizations featured in the gallery were created using Tableau Public, a free software from Tableau that allows anyone to explore data and publish their visualizations and stories to the web.
Attendees will include Mayor Ed Murray of Seattle, Tableau executives, Seattle’s honorary foreign consular community, the Brazilian consulate in Seattle, and members of Seattle City and Washington State governments.
